ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility for admissions into the Ph. D. degree program in InterDisciplinary Centre for August 2017.

  • Candidates with ME / M. Tech. / M. Sc. (Engg.) or MS (post BE / B. Tech.) equivalent degrees will be considered for the Ph. D. programme. For candidates applying with an M.E/M.Tech degree, qualification in the GATE exam is preferable, but the GATE score need not be currently valid (e.g., the GATE exam could have been taken before entry into the ME/MTech programme) candidates without GATE qualification may not be shortlisted for the interview.
  • Candidates with BE / B. Tech. / M. Sc. / MCA or equivalent qualification with a valid score / rank as on 1st August 2017 in one of the National Entrance Tests, such as GATE 2016 / 2017 / Joint CSIR-UGC-NET for JRF / UGC-NET for JRF / DBT JRF / ICMR JRF / JEST 2016 / NBHM Screening Test 2016 / INSPIRE fellows (for Ph. D.) will be considered for admissions into the Ph. D. programme based on their performance in the interview by the admission committee.
  • The duration of the Bachelor’s degrees, such as B. E. / B. Tech, or equivalent should have a minimum tenure of at least 4 years of study and Master’s degrees, such as M. Sc. or MS should have a minimum tenure of at least 2 years of study.

AREAS OF RESEARCH

All areas of research in Energy Science and Technology including novel concepts of Energy Harvesting and Efficiency, developments of tools and systems for Solar, Thermal and other sources of energy. The topics include, but are not limited to high storage density battery, solar thermal technologies, novel thermodynamic cycles, thermal storage, high power technologies, materials for energy systems, catalysis, corrosion, Thermo electricity, combustion science and technology, green buildings and smart grids and other electrical and electronic systems for harvesting and distribution of energy.
